A3 1.4T / 2.0T TFSI: carbon cleaning, DSG fluid service every 40,000 miles. TT 2.0T: S-tronic DSG, carbon buildup. e-tron GT and Q4 e-tron: EV service (12V battery, brakes, cabin filter, alignment) — same profile as Tesla but with additional 48V items on PHEV variants.
S3/RS3 (2.5T inline-5): timing belt, carbon cleaning, DSG fluid. S5/RS5 (3.0T V6): walnut blast at 60,000 miles, ZF service. RS6/RS7: 4.0T mild hybrid V8 — carbon cleaning every 40,000–50,000 miles. All S/RS: more frequent oil changes (5,000 miles strict) and brake service at shorter intervals.
Every Audi TFSI and TFSI engine (1.8T, 2.0T, 3.0T, 4.0T) uses direct injection and accumulates carbon deposits on intake valves. By 60,000 miles intake valve deposits cause rough idle, cold misfires, and power loss. Walnut-shell media blasting removes deposits thoroughly without removing the cylinder head.

The 2.0T TFSI HPFP in 2008–2013 A4, Q5, and related VAG models has documented premature failure — metal debris from the pump enters the fuel system and contaminates injectors. NHTSA investigated, Audi extended warranty on many affected VINs. Symptoms: hesitation, misfires, P0087 fuel pressure codes. Check warranty status before paying for diagnosis.
Audi's DSG (7-speed dry clutch on low-torque, 6-speed wet clutch on high-torque) requires fluid service every 40,000 miles. The dry 7-speed DSG in A3 and TT frequently develops judder and harsh low-speed engagement from fluid degradation and software drift. Fluid service plus software adaptation reset resolves most cases without mechanical repair.
