We test battery health at every oil change using a digital load tester — not just a voltage meter. A battery can read 12.6V at rest and still fail under load. Cold Cranking Amps (CCA) degradation is what matters. Chico's heat kills batteries in 3–4 years. When replacement is needed, we install the OEM-specified group size and CCA rating — not the cheapest battery on the shelf.
The alternator charges the battery while the engine runs. When it fails, the battery drains — sometimes within 20–30 minutes of driving.
