on parts AND labor — Industry-leading coverage. stars on 800+ Google reviews.
Every repair at Tedious Auto Repair is backed by our on parts and labor —
exceeds most dealer warranties (typically 12 months / 12,000 miles) and far exceeds most independent shop warranties (often 90 days or 12 months). This length reflects confidence in their parts and the quality standards of their certified shops. Tedious Auto Repair as a ASE-Certified Independent Shop honors the full coverage.
If you have warranty work needed while traveling, any ASE Certified shop Center can honor your warranty — over across the United States. Visiting family in another state and a warranty issue surfaces? Walk into the nearest ASE-Certified shop and they handle it. Your warranty doesn't expire when you leave Chico.
The warranty isn't just parts — it includes labor coverage too. If a covered repair fails within the warranty period, both the replacement part AND the labor to install it are covered. Many dealer warranties cover parts only, leaving customers paying labor when something fails. coverage is more comprehensive.
Every repair is documented in your customer record with parts, labor, date, and mileage. Repairs are tracked in our system for warranty verification. If you need warranty work, the repair history is accessible to verify coverage. No lost paperwork problems.
If you sell your vehicle within the warranty period, coverage typically transfers to the new owner. This adds resale value — a vehicle with active written warranty coverage is more attractive to buyers than one without. Documentation supports the transfer.
Engine, transmission, electrical, brakes, suspension, steering, cooling, AC, exhaust, drivetrain — the vast majority of mechanical repair work qualifies for coverage when performed at our ASE Certified shop with quality parts. The warranty is broad rather than narrow.
Quality parts installed by our shop are covered under the warranty. Our coverage applies to most common repair parts — filters, brake pads, brake rotors, batteries, sensors, belts, hoses, water pumps, alternators, starters, and many more.
Some specialty applications use OE-equivalent aftermarket parts from manufacturers like Bosch, Denso, Aisin, Mahle, or others. These are covered under the warranty when installed by a ASE Certified shop Center as part of qualifying repair work.
Diagnostic time leading to a covered repair is included in the warranty scope if a related issue surfaces within the warranty period. If we diagnose a check engine light, repair the underlying cause, and the same issue returns under warranty — re-diagnosis is covered.
Labor performed at our ASE Certified shop qualifies. Our certification ensures installations are
Wear items like brake pads, tires, wiper blades, and similar items are covered for manufacturing defects but not for normal wear. A brake pad lasting only 5,000 miles indicates a defect (covered); a brake pad lasting 30,000 miles before normal wear-out is not a warranty issue.
If you bring your own parts for us to install, those parts are not covered under our warranty — they didn't come through our supply chain. Labor on customer-supplied parts is typically covered for installation defects, but the parts themselves aren't covered under our warranty. We document this clearly at intake.
If we diagnose a transmission issue and you decline transmission repair, then the transmission fails later — that's a pre-existing condition we documented before work began. Coverage applies to work actually performed, not to deferred maintenance you chose not to address.
Off-road damage to suspension components originally repaired for street use. Damage from accidents. Damage from aftermarket modifications that affect the covered system. Failures caused by other component issues we recommended addressing but you declined. These reduce or eliminate coverage.
Oil changes, fluid services, tire rotations, and similar maintenance items don't have ongoing warranty coverage — they're consumables that need periodic replacement. Quality and proper procedure are covered (we'll redo a poorly-performed oil change for free) but ongoing oil life isn't a warranty matter.
ASE Certified shop focuses on mechanical repair. Bodywork, paint, glass replacement, and tire warranty are typically handled by specialty shops. We don't perform those services and they're not in the ASE Certified shop warranty scope.
Running an engine with no oil after we changed it, towing beyond vehicle capacity, ignoring warning lights for extended periods — these create damage outside warranty scope. We're responsible for our work, not for what happens with vehicle operation after the fact.

If the issue happens locally, call us at (530) 826-4275 or bring the vehicle to our shop. We'll diagnose the issue, verify warranty coverage, and complete the repair under warranty. If you have your original invoice, bring it; otherwise we can look up the repair in our records.
It covers most mechanical repairs using quality parts or OE-equivalent quality parts installed at a ASE Certified shop Center. It does NOT cover: customer-supplied parts, pre-existing conditions documented before our repair, damage from accidents or misuse, normal wear items (oil changes, tires, etc.), or work outside ASE Certified shop's mechanical repair scope (bodywork, paint, glass).
Yes, the warranty typically transfers to a subsequent owner within the coverage period. This adds resale value — a vehicle with active written warranty coverage is more attractive to buyers. Documentation supports the transfer; provide the buyer with original invoices showing covered repairs.
Most dealer warranties on repairs are 12 months / 12,000 miles. Ours Most dealer warranties cover parts only or have limited labor coverage. Our warranty covers both parts AND labor. Most dealer warranties are honored only at that dealer or other locations of the same brand. Ours is

Most car dealer repair warranties are 12 months / 12,000 miles. Most dealer warranties are honored only at the same dealer or other locations of that brand. is honored at any of The warranty isn't even close in coverage scope.
Most independent shops offer 90 days or 12 months warranty, often parts-only with labor billed separately. Many require you to return to the original shop — they have no nationwide coverage network. Our parts and labor warranty exceeds what most independents offer by significant margin.
Quick-lube chains typically offer 30-90 day warranty on oil changes, often limited scope. Major repair work at quick-lube chains is rare. Tedious offers the same ASE Certified shop on oil changes that we do on major repairs. Significant difference in coverage for the same type of work.
Tire shops often offer brake service with 90-day or 12-month warranties. Coverage may be parts-only with labor billed separately on warranty claims. Our coverage on brake work — pads, rotors, calipers, fluid — exceeds what most tire shops offer.
Some aftermarket warranties (extended service contracts purchased separately) cover specific component categories with various limits and deductibles. Our warranty is included with the repair — no separate purchase, no deductibles on covered work. It's a real warranty, not a contract you pay extra for.
We back our work with a because we use quality parts and employ ASE-certified technicians. That commitment means standing behind every repair, nationwide.
Your repair invoice documents the work performed, parts installed, date, and mileage at the time of repair. Keep it somewhere accessible (glove box, home file, digital copy on your phone). The invoice is your first reference if a warranty issue arises. We can also look up records through our shop management system.
Symptoms that suggest a warranty issue: a recently-repaired component is failing again with the same symptoms; a part installed by us has visibly failed; a system we worked on is exhibiting the original problem we were supposed to fix. If you're unsure, call us — we'll discuss whether it's a warranty matter.
Call us at (530) 826-4275 before bringing the vehicle in for a warranty claim. We can verify the repair was within the warranty window, schedule warranty work appropriately, and prepare for the visit. Avoids you driving in only to find we need to schedule for another time.
Contact us or check Google for a nearby authorized shop. Call ahead to confirm they can take warranty work on your schedule. Bring your original invoice if available. They have access to our warranty system to verify coverage and complete the work.
Before bringing a warranty vehicle in, take photos of any visible issues — leak locations, damaged components, warning lights. This documentation helps the shop diagnose efficiently and supports your warranty claim. Photos timestamped on your phone provide good evidence.
If you notice a warranty issue developing, address it promptly. Driving with a marginal repair can cause additional damage to other components — and damage caused by neglecting a known warranty issue may not be covered. The warranty covers the original repair, not consequential damage from delayed warranty action.
Customer drove their F-250 to Phoenix to visit family. Alternator we'd replaced about 14 months earlier started showing voltage issues. They visited a ASE-Certified shop in Phoenix, provided our invoice, and the Phoenix shop completed warranty repair at no charge to the customer. The Phoenix shop was reimbursed under warranty. Customer was back on the road same day.
Sometimes parts fail early — manufacturing defects happen even with quality parts. A customer's water pump (ASE-Certified, installed 8 months earlier) started leaking. We diagnosed under warranty, replaced the water pump at no charge, refilled coolant, pressure tested. Total customer cost: $0. The warranty does what it's supposed to do.
A customer sold their Highlander 11 months after we'd done major timing belt and water pump service. The new owner contacted us about a minor coolant leak. We verified the warranty was within coverage period (we had records showing the work). Resolved the issue under warranty for the new owner. The transferable warranty added real value to the sale transaction.
Sometimes coverage doesn't apply and we explain why honestly. A customer brought in a noise that turned out to be a different component than what we'd serviced. Or off-road damage to a suspension component originally repaired for street use. Or pre-existing conditions we'd documented before the original work. Being honest about scope is fair to both sides.
Catalytic converter theft is common in Chico — covered by most comprehensive insurance policies. We work with insurance adjusters directly, document the theft and replacement work in standard insurance formats, and most claims pay directly to us. Customer pays only their deductible. Combines well with coverage on the new catalytic converter.
The warranty is what it appears to be — parts and labor, nationwide at authorized service location. No surprise exclusions, no fine print disclaimers that gut the coverage, no clauses that void warranty for routine maintenance done elsewhere. Standard exclusions (customer-supplied parts, accident damage, normal wear) but the core coverage is straightforward and honored consistently.
For warranty claims at another authorized service location, bring your original repair invoice if available. If not available, the ASE-Certified shop can typically look up the repair through our warranty system using your vehicle's VIN. Keep digital copies of major repair invoices on your phone or in cloud storage for easy access while traveling.
Tedious Auto Repair maintains digital records of every customer visit indefinitely. Your repair history, parts installed, labor performed, and dates are all accessible. If you lose your invoice or need documentation for a third party (insurance claim, vehicle sale, warranty transfer), we can provide copies.
When you decline recommended repairs at the time of service, we document those declined items in your record. This is important for warranty purposes — if a declined item later causes a problem, it's documented as a pre-existing known condition rather than a warranty failure. Transparent documentation protects both customer and shop.
Sometimes we identify items that aren't urgent but would benefit from service — slightly worn belt, fluid approaching change interval, minor leak that isn't causing problems yet. We document these as recommendations. Choosing to defer them is your decision; failure of those items later isn't a warranty matter.
If you bring your own parts (common for performance parts, vintage parts, or specialty items), we install them with our standard installation quality. However, those parts are NOT covered by our warranty — they didn't come through our supply chain. Labor on customer-supplied parts is typically covered for installation defects only. We make this clear at intake.
Maintenance services like oil changes, fluid services, and inspections have specific warranty considerations. Quality and proper procedure are covered (we'll redo improperly-performed work for free), but ongoing oil life or fluid degradation isn't a warranty matter since those are consumables that wear with normal use over time.
Any limitations or exclusions on specific repair work are documented at the time of service. Examples: customer-supplied parts (parts-only warranty doesn't apply), used parts on older vehicles (limited warranty scope by request), or repair work performed against our recommendation (if you insist on pads-only when we recommend pads+rotors, the unusual work has different warranty implications).
When you have warranty work done at another authorized service location, that shop performs the repair and submits the warranty claim. They are reimbursed per the warranty program rules. The customer pays nothing for covered warranty work. The administrative details happen behind the scenes — your experience is just getting the repair done.
If you're unsure whether a specific issue is a warranty matter, call us at (530) 826-4275 before bringing the vehicle in. We can review your service history and the symptoms you're describing to give an initial assessment of whether warranty coverage applies. Saves time and clarifies expectations upfront.
