WHY DOES MY CAR’S AC DRIP?

Why does my car’s AC drip? AC problems can come unexpectedly. Sometimes, you will notice your AC is not blowing cold air. Other times you may see leaks. Leaks on your floor mats can sometimes mean AC malfunctions. This commonly depends on how often it occurs and how much leaks.

Excess moisture around your AC pipes can cause your AC system to drip water. This issue commonly causes spotting wet areas on your front passenger side floor mats. In this hot Chico weather, finding small spots of water on your floor mats will, most likely, be caused by condensation.

Also, when winter weather kicks in, it is usual that your AC system may do the same thing, leak small amounts of water. This happens because the coil could potentially freeze and cause the water to leak out. If the problem keeps occurring for more than a day or two, it may be time to call Tedious Repairs and have it checked out!

WHAT IS THE CAUSE OF MY CAR AC DRIPPING?

There are a few potential factors in car ACs drip. However, the common reasons for AC to drop are:

  • Clogged evaporator drains can cause some damage. Excessive amounts of loose dirt and debris can cause clogs in the evaporator system, leading to your AC system malfunctioning.
  • Damaged seals are another potential cause of ac leaks. Whether you have plastic or rubber seals, they will eventually get worn out. Once they are worn out and are not replaced, they will cause your ac to drip.
  • A corroded evaporator core will cause AC malfunctions. Also, when your vehicle’s evaporator core develops excessive amounts of rust, it will start to leak.
